San Antonio Water System Project Overview
San Antonio has experienced the largest population growth of any U.S. city over the past decade. The population has surged to nearly 1.5 million residents, leading to the inevitable need for extensive renovations in the San Antonio Water System. As part of this expansion project, the 48″ mains were replaced with 3.1 miles of 78″ wastewater main. Additionally, a siphon and the 48″ main were eliminated altogether. It was a privilege for our team to contribute to the success of this ambitious undertaking.
Our Casing Pipe Solution
Pittsburgh Pipe played a crucial role in this infrastructure project by providing 6,340 linear feet of 96″ casing pipe. This massive quantity of casing pipe was expertly installed using the advanced technique of micro tunneling. In addition to the casing pipe, we supplied 78″ FRP carrier pipe for nine tunnel runs, further contributing to the project’s success.
The scope of the undertaking was extensive, requiring seamless coordination with Fort Sam Houston and the installation of multiple manholes. Critical components were integrated into the system, including an 8″ water line, 16″ water line, 8″ sewer, 10″ sewer, and bypass pumping. The careful coordination of these elements ensured the smooth functioning of the reimagined water system.
